The British CMA's rejects Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, fearing the harm of competition in the cloud gaming market.
The British CMA's published its concerns about Microsoft's acquisition of Activision, that it may kill competition in the cloud gaming service market, as this market has grown rapidly in Britain recently, as the number of ready players in Britain increased 3 times between 2021-2022.
And Microsoft accounts for 60 to 70% of the cloud games market, so if Microsoft buys Activision, it will make it stronger and bigger, and it will be impossible to compete with it in this cloud games market.
What is the fate of the deal?
So far, the deal will be suspended temporarily, because in order for this acquisition deal to take place, the approval of many countries must be completed, and there are key countries such as Britain, where its decision is firm, but Microsoft has the right to submit an official objection, and Microsoft actually announced an objection to the decision of the British court.
So far, we cannot wait to find out the final answer, which is whether a deal will take place?
It is usually difficult to appeal the decision of the British CMA's, but Microsoft has strong arguments in its pocket, and the American and Arab courts still have not issued a decision, but rather a deal so far. Perhaps if you agree, this will put pressure on the British court, and the acquisition deal may be completed.
