A New Era for Senua's Saga
The world of video games recently witnessed the sudden passing of one of its most prominent pioneers, Tamim Antoniades, the writer and director of the critically acclaimed game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.
As Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 prepares to launch, questions are being raised about the future of the series following the departure of Antoniades, who is no longer part of the Ninja Theory team.
An Xbox spokesperson confirmed to Polygon that Antoniades no longer works on Ninja Theory, despite his involvement in the early stages of the sequel.
Antoniades' departure marks the end of an era for the game, as he was considered the mastermind behind Senua's tragic story and her poignant experience with schizophrenia.
But Antoniades' departure does not mean the end of Senua's Saga.
Ninja Theory has unveiled a new team leading the development of the second part, consisting of:
- Dan Atwell: Environmental Art Director.
- Mark Slater-Tunstill: Visual Effects Director.
- David Garcia: Voice Director.
The new team brings a new creative vision to the game, with a focus on deepening Senua's story and exploring her inner journey more deeply.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 looks very promising, offering a more grueling and immersive journey for the heroine.
Expectations indicate that the playing time will be similar to the first part, that is, about 7.5 hours to complete the main story and 9 hours to complete all content.
The game will be released on May 21 on Xbox Series
Will Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 live up to the expectations of fans of the first part?
It's still too early to tell, but early indications point to a poignant emotional journey.
